Raised in Pune India, Chetna always had connection with the arts and literature. She was a young story writer, poet and actively engaged in literature centric programs. After immigrating to Canada and working as an educationist with Peel District School Board, her love for Gujarati literature and language stayed intact and eventually she decided to form an organization called “Shabd Prarthna”. Based on the principles of “Sangeet, Sahitya, and Sanskriti”, the organization executes events focusing on ted style talks and conversations from renowned authors, musicians, poets etc. Chetna Desai believes that Shabd Prarthna is a platform that can encourage women from all background to take a leadership role and will enhance their personal skills when they are actively involved as a team member. With her vision, Chetna has organized six successful events in the last five years, which were fully sold out.
